According to http://www.dictionary.com/ role play is: "to assume the attitudes, actions, and discourse of (another), esp. in a make-believe situation in an effort to understand a differing point of view or social interaction".

But what is roleplaying on this site?
The role play on this site is meant to entertain the members, by them creating or playing as a canon character. They are given the ability to make their own decisions and to guide their character through an infinite course of life. The role play on A New Hogwarts; is not purely based on Harry Potter; but of the world and histories surrounding him.

On this site you will take control of a character and interact with other members, creating a story line. All roleplays must be done in the third person past tense such as "Charles walked to the store", NOT "Charles walks to the store".

Examples:

Charles woke up an hour or so before; could've been two for all he knew. He brought a shaky hand through his hair and sighed. His eyes watered, and he coughed. The curse had struck him odd the day before, knocking something inside him about. Every breath in was burning agony, every breath out was utter hell. Getting to his feet, his knees wobbled and he stumbled into the kitchen waving to some random woman on his way.

Now that was a not so shabby starter

The woman eyed the man stumble into the kitchen. She bit her lip and traced him over, not sure of what to do. Mary fixed her cloak, and watched the man for a second. "I, err.. I can get you some-thin if you er.. like" She stuttered nervously as she looked up to the man. "Is there anythin' you need?"

There's a reply, which I'm pretending was from another user. In that reply I used dialogue. Roleplaying is simply a narrative sculpted by multiple people.
